National park, nature parks and suspension bridge in the Hunsrück
Nature parks and national parks are only created where scenic beauty retains its uniqueness.
Our landscape thrives on contrasts: gentle mountain ranges between Erbeskopf and Idarkopf and deep gorges to the Moselle and Rhine, imposing cliffs and marshy moors. The list goes on and on.
The Hunsrück is a natural region. Red deer and wild boar, badgers, hazel grouse and the largest population of wildcats in Europe can be found here in a very small area. Rare orchids, wild daffodils and copper beeches well over a hundred years old showcase a wide spectrum of biodiversity.
Over the next few years, the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park will develop into a ‘primeval forest of tomorrow’. The Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park is one of the largest nature parks in Germany and the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park encompasses a wide variety of landscapes.
A real adventure in nature is our Geierlay suspension bridge, the most beautiful suspension rope bridge in Germany.
