Kastellaun
The old town of Kastellaun is a little gem in the Hunsrück. In the middle of it all, the ruins of Sponheim Castle tower above the restored half-timbered houses.
You can get to know the castle town on interesting guided tours and finish off with a dungeon meal in the castle cellar.
Nature lovers are in good hands at the nature adventure park in Kastellaun. The senses are trained on the barefoot path, in the corn field maze or the high ropes course. And on the climate change nature trail, you can learn all about the challenges facing forests due to climate change.
One of the highest scoring certified premium trails, the Baybachklamm dream loop, can be found in the Kastellaun region. Towering cliffs and steep paths turn the valley into a canyon. A hike in the gorge - even holding onto the rope - is full of adventure.
A special attraction for those with a head for heights is the Geierlay suspension rope bridge between the villages of Mörsdorf and Sosberg. At 360 metres long, it is the most beautiful suspension rope bridge in Germany. Built on the model of Nepalese suspension rope bridges, it hovers 100 metres above Mörsdorf Bachtal.
